QR Codes That Never Expire

If a "free" QR code you printed suddenly stopped working, you didn't do anything wrong — you were rented a dynamic code. It never contained your link; it contained the provider's link, and when the trial ended they switched it off. A static code can't do that to you: your destination is baked into the pixels themselves, so there is nothing to expire, nothing to subscribe to, and no one to ask permission from. 1. Paste your link (or Wi-Fi details, contact card, event…) — the data goes into the code, not onto someone's server.

Why did my old QR code stop working?

Almost certainly because it was a dynamic code: it pointed at a provider's redirect server, and the provider disabled the redirect — usually when a trial ended or a plan lapsed. The code itself still scans; the leash it pointed at is gone.

How can this be free when other services charge monthly?

Subscriptions pay for the redirect servers and scan analytics. Static codes need neither — your browser does the work once, and then physics does the rest. There's nothing ongoing to charge for.

What's the trade-off with a static code?

You can't change the destination after printing, and you don't get scan-tracking analytics. If you need to update the target later, point the code at a page you control (like yoursite.com/menu) and edit that page.

How do I check if an existing QR code can expire?
